Doc Wheeler was born December 28, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Ellery and Florence Wheeler. He moved to Peck as a baby and attended Peck Schools, graduating in 1963. He attended SC4 for two years and then attended Northern Michigan University in Marquette for two years. Doc then became employed by Peck Schools as a custodian, bus driver, teacher, and in the Superintendent's office. He worked for many superintendents over the years. In 1995, he was hired as the secretary/manager of the whole county. He held this position until he retired in September 2002. He became bored with retirement, so he began selling cars at Bricker Brothers in Croswell; was a dispatcher for Sanilac Transportation; and was the manager of Sanilac County Recycling Center in Sandusky. Dale married Nancy Liebler on November 23, 1989 in Peck, Michigan.

Dale is survived by his wife Nancy. Two stepsons: Jeremy Liebler, of Tennessee; and Jason (Cindy) Liebler, of Silverwood. Four "perfect" grandchildren: Ian, Eli, Aiden, and Keira Liebler, of Silverwood. He also leaves behind many cousins, friends, and other relatives.
