James E. Krcmarik, age 73 of Mio, Michigan, passed away at Munson Healthcare, Grayling Hospital on Sunday, July 30, 2017.

James was born in Flint, Michigan on July 6, 1944 to John and Anna (Kunik) Krcmarik. He graduated from

Our Lady of Perpetual Help High School in Chesaning, MI with the Class of 1963, and attended Delta College for 2 years, studying architecture and HVAC systems. He spent his career on the drawing boards as a mechanical engineer. Jim was a member of the Mio Knights of Columbus Council #7329 of Mio since 2005. He was exemplified to the 4th Degree on November 3, 2012. He served as Grand Knight from 2008-2009, and held an office in the Council each year of his membership. Jim was a faithful member of St. Mary Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Church of Mio, Michigan since 2004. He led the rosary before Mass each Sunday for several years. He also volunteered in the Shrine Gift Shop for approximately 8 years. In his early life, he was a Parish Council President and also taught Catechism. He served as a Commissioner of Albee Township for 2 years. Jim also spent much of his time volunteering for DHS and Love, Inc. as a driver. He was a Little League Coach for many years, and also coached junior bowling for several years. Jim was an avid bowler and golfer. He loved sports, especially the Detroit Tigers. He also enjoyed taking his family camping every summer for many years.

James is survived by his wife of 49 years, Eve (they would have celebrated their 50th on August 26, 2017); his children: Amy & Joe Sykes of Mio, MI; Paul & Trisha (Maddox) Krcmarik of Marion, IN; and Greg Krcmarik of Owosso, MI; his grandchildren: Nathaniel Sykes & fiancée Nissa Cramer, Kyleigh Krcmarik, Jenna Krcmarik, and Toby Krcmarik; his brother John (Marilyn) Krcmarik of Belleville, MI; and his sister: Chris James and Pat (Ron) Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Anna Krcmarik.

Visitation on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 1 – 9 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, with a Vigil Prayer Service and 4th Degree Service beginning at 7 PM. Visitation will also be held from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mio, Michigan at 11 AM with Father Santiago Hoyumpa as Celebrant. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow the Mass.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Mary Shrine Restoration Fund.
