Survived By: She married David L. Poynter on January 13, 1961 and he survives her. Also surviving is her daughter Wendy Bilby (Doug) of Jackson, three sons, David (Geri) Poynter of Shelby Township, Tom (Edie) Poynter of Michigan Center, and James (Trisha) Poynter of Midland, and dozens of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Barbara Evelyn Poynter, 74, of Jackson, died at 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Midland Regional Hospital, Midland, Michigan.  She was born October 17, 1942 in Jackson, Michigan, to Sheldon and Francis Manning. She married David L. Poynter on January 13, 1961 and he survives her.

 

Also surviving is her daughter Wendy Bilby (Doug) of Jackson, three sons, David (Geri) Poynter of Shelby Township, Tom (Edie) Poynter of Michigan Center, and James (Trisha) Poynter of Midland, and dozens of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

Barb was a long-time resident of Midland where she lived since her and Dave moved there over 25 years ago.

 

She loved camping especially with her grandchildren.  She also loved feeding her birds which she kept track of the many varieties.  One of her biggest enjoyments since moving to Midland was going “West” to the Mt. Pleasant Casino.

 

The Funeral Liturgy for Barbara will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2017 from Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Sanford.  Father Daniel Fox OFM Cap. will officiate with entombment in Midland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.  Barbara’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St., on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of mass.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Barbara’s memory.
