Survived By: Surviving are two daughters, Joyce (Gary) Wejrowski and Paulette (Michael) Royer, five grandchildren: Michael (Lorie) Royer Jr., Scott (Teresa) Royer, Jill and David Wejrowski and Kim (Nathaniel) Brost, five great grandchildren: Justin, Kaitlyn, and Jordan Royer, Alyssa and Zachary Brost. Emily was predeceased by three sisters: Victoria (Walt) Kukla, Helen (Charles) Knapp, and Dorothy (Alfonse) Lukowski and two brothers, Martin Hanczewski and Conrad (Margaret) Hanczewski.
Affiliations: Emily graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1939. She married Robert M. Herek on April 24, 1965 and he predeceased her on April 6, 1993. She retired from Bay Regional Medical Center after 15 years of dedicated service and was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Hyacinth Church. Emily was also a member of St. Hyacinth Rosary Society and enjoyed reading, crochet and assembling puzzles.

     Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away Monday, September 4, 2017 at the Bay County Medical Care Facility, age 96.  She was born April 23, 1921 in Bay City to the late Valentine and Rosalie (Grygiel) Hanczewski.  Emily graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1939.  She married Robert M. Herek on April 24, 1965 and he predeceased her on April 6, 1993.  She retired from Bay Regional Medical Center after 15 years of dedicated service and was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Hyacinth Church.  Emily was also a member of St. Hyacinth Rosary Society and enjoyed reading, crochet and assembling puzzles.

     The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, September 11, 2017 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Hyacinth Church, 1515 Cass Ave., Bay City, MI 48708.  Fr. Rick Filary will celebrate Mass and entombment will follow in St. Stanislaus Mausoleum.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm and at church on Monday after 9:00 am.  A Parish Vigil Service for Emily will be held Sunday at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Diabetes Association.  www.ambrosefuneralchapel.com
