Clare Lee LaVene, age 79, of Mt. Morris, died Monday, September 11, 2017. The funeral service will take place 1:00 pm, Friday, September 15, 2017, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor Hank Messing will officiate with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Clare’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm; and on Friday, from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the Michigan Parkinson Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Clare was born December 19, 1937, in Flint, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Lee and Tryphena (Dean) LaVene. Clare graduated from Mt. Morris High School, class of 56, from there he would continue his education at the General Motors Institute graduating with the class 1960.  He married Leanna Eisinger on March 14, 1959, in Mt. Morris. Clare was a Tool & die maker for Chevy in the Hole for 38 years, retiring on June 1, 1994. He was a long-time member of UAW Local #659. In his free time, Clare enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing, bowling, playing cards, traveling to Northern Michigan, Florida, Las Vegas, Hawaii, and Arizona. He also enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting. Left to cherish his memory, loving wife of 58 ½ years, Leanna (Eisinger) LaVene; son: Mark (Christy) LaVene; daughter, Marta (Tom) Brink; four grandchildren: Jason (Caroline) LaVene, Jennifer Harrington, T.J. Brink, and Leah Knott; 11 great-grandchildren: Seth, Damien, Leland, Caeden, Kaylee, Jace, Remi, Destiny, Molly, Kayson, Kinsley; one brother, Leon LaVene; and many other family members and friends. Clare was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Edna Hinch, Rose Lee, Carol Rockwell, and Elsie Richards, grandson-in-law Geno Harrington, and his favorite family dog Bridgette.
