Gerald R. “Gerry” Lentner

Went to be with his Lord peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2017, at his residence; age 79 years.  Gerald was born on August 7, 1938, in Saginaw, MI to the late Raymond and Catherine (Boensch) Lentner.   He honorably served in the Navy Seabees for 2 years.  He was married to Mary Lou Nefe on February 14, 1959; she survives him.  Gerry was co-owner/operator with his brother of Lentner & Sons Excavating.  He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Frankentrost, Bridgeport Gun Club, Frankenmuth Conservation Club and Richville Conservation Club.  He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.


Surviving besides his wife are 2 sons, Paul Lentner of Chesaning and Dan Lentner of Frankenmuth; adopted family, Craig (Holly) Klein of Frankenmuth; grandchildren, Mike Klein, Ben Klein, Beri Rose (Matt) Chapman and Alex Klein; brother, Henry Lentner of Saginaw; sister, Eileen (Duane) Hess of Littleton, CO and sister-in-law, Florence Lentner of Saginaw, along with nieces and nephews.


Gerry was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Lentner and sister-in-law, Kay Lentner.


Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 13, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 8220 Holland Rd., Frankentrost, MI.  Rev. Mark Loest will officiate with burial in St. John’s Cemetery, Frankentrost.  Gerry’s family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lutheran Hour Ministries or a charity of the donor’s choice.
