He is also survived by his siblings Jenny (Danny) Felt, Robbie (Daryl) Slinkard, Terry Woodfin, sister-in-law Joanne (Jack) Vivian; his uncle and aunts from Alabama, nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and special pets Oochie and Mayley.

Larry Freeman Woodfin, 74 of Midland, passed away peacefully at his home, Sunday evening, October 8, 2017 surrounded by family. He was born August 29, 1943, son of the late Luman F. and Thursie Mae (Hornsby) Woodfin. He attended Mott Community College earning an Associate’s Degree in Engineering and a place at the Dow Chemical Company. On June 20, 1964, he married the former Beverley Winter at Holy Family Catholic Church in Grand Blanc. After only 2 years of marriage, Larry was drafted in the United States Army to serve in Vietnam as a Communications Specialist. Upon his return to the states, he resumed working at Dow Chemical to fulfill his 34 year career. After his retirement in 1997, Larry enjoyed many things. He spent time fishing, hunting, boating, camping, and especially time spent at the golf course. More than anything, he cherished the wonderful time he spent with his beloved family and friends.

 

 

Larry is survived by his wife of 53 years Beverley Woodfin; his son Michael (Lori) Woodfin; grandchildren Emily Woodfin, Madison Woodfin, Kayla Aultman, Justin Aultman; and a great granddaughter on the way Khloe. He is also survived by his siblings Jenny (Danny) Felt, Robbie (Daryl) Slinkard, Terry Woodfin, sister-in-law Joanne (Jack) Vivian; his uncle and aunts from Alabama, nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and special pets Oochie and Mayley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Gary Woodfin.

 

 

The funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, October 13, 2017 from Our Lady of Grace Catholic Parish in Sanford. Father Daniel Fox O.F.M. Cap. will act as celebrant with burial to take place in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery in Grand Blanc. A Vigil for the deceased will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday evening. Larry’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Our Lady of Grace Catholic Parish or Veterans Affairs.
