Dorothy I. Duggan, 89, of Hume Township, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2017 at Covenant Cooper Hospital in Saginaw.

 

Dorothy was born on October 29, 1928 to the late William and Helen (Baker) Roberts.

 

On May 1, 1948, she married the love of her life, Walter Duggan, at the Bad Axe First United Methodist Church.  He preceded her in death on August 16, 1990.

 

Dorothy was owner of the Duggan’s Family Campground for thirty eight years.   She would always provide lunch for the workers either at the family farm or at the campground.   Dorothy collected cookbooks and rare coins.  Her favorite time of the year was Christmas, where Dorothy and her daughter, Diana would start decorating on November 1st.  

 

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Dennis (Maureen) Duggan, William “Snapper” Duggan (special friend, Crystal Wright) and Tom (Ellen) Duggan; eleven grandchildren: Dennis, Kristie, Tanya, Kimberly, Joseph, Matthew, Luke, Jai, Jessica, Nicole and T.J.; several great-grandchildren; her sister, Phyllis Reehl; and many nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her son, Frederick Duggan; her daughter, Diana Duggan Hollister; her brother, Robert Roberts; and her sisters, Norma and Wilma.

 

A celebration of life service for Dorothy will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe with Rev. William O’Nan officiating.   Burial will take place at Colfax Township Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe and on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 10 a.m. until time of service.
