Lorine M. Reinert

Frankenmuth, MI

Lorine Margaret (Keinath) Reinert entered eternal life with her Lord and Savior while surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at the age of 93 years.  She is survived by her sons Tom (Josie) of Tucson, AZ, John (Diana) of Chambersburg, PA, Jim (Kimm) of Royal Oak, MI, and Tim (Kathy) of Howell, MI and three grandchildren (Ben, Lorena, and Jenna). She also is survived by sisters-in-law Lisa Reinert and Geraldine Reinert of Frankenmuth, Betty Campbell of Kokomo, IN, and Marlene Keinath of Rochester Hills, MI; first cousins Wally Engel and Vera Kern of Frankenmuth, Marie Chapman of Dearborn, MI, and Beatrice Kupke of Pinnacle, NC; and numerous godchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Lorine was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Elmer; her parents Richard and Anna (Schreiner) Keinath; brothers Ottomar Keinath and Richard Keinath; brothers-in-law Richard Reinert, Henry Reinert, Edward Reinert, John Campbell, Walter Haubenstricker, and Fred Keinath; and sisters-in-law Bonnie Reinert, Selma Haubenstricker, and Dorothy Keinath.

Lorine was born at home at the Keinath family homestead in Frankenmuth Township to Richard and Anna Keinath. She was baptized into and attended St. Lorenz Lutheran School, where she graduated and was confirmed into the church on her birthday in 1938. She was a lifelong member of St Lorenz Lutheran Church, volunteering and contributing her time and talents to many church groups and activities. Her faith in God and love of family and country were at the center of her life.

Lorine attended and graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1943, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. As a graduate during wartime, there were many more girls than boys in her class of 480 graduates.

On September 26, 1959, she married Elmer Reinert. Together, they lived their entire life in the Frankenmuth area, raising four sons and emphasizing education and service.

Lorine was a patriot, and was a charter founding member of the Frankenmuth American Legion Auxiliary in 1974 to honor those who served, and has been an active Legion Auxiliary member ever since. She served in leadership roles and led volunteer and fundraising activities to help those in need, including veterans at the VA Hospital and scholarship and educational opportunities for young women.

Lorine was previously employed as a bookkeeper by Universal Engineering, and at Zehnder’s Hotel where she worked as a waitress, and in the gift shops. However, her most important job was being a stay-at-home Mom and raising four sons.  Lorine’s other passions included family, baking, cooking, gardening and raising beautiful flowers, walking, and traveling.  She won numerous awards, ribbons, and prizes from the Saginaw County Fair for her baking, canning, vegetables and flowers.  She enjoyed life and visiting all 50 states and taking multiple trips abroad.

As a memorial to Lorine, her family asks you to say a prayer and reflect on a special moment you shared with Lorine….and then smile.
