Survived By: She leaves behind her husband, Greg; her son, Robert Querback and wife, Stacy of Essexville, Michigan; her daughter, Penny Lloyd-Jones and husband, Steve of Rockford, Michigan; and her son, Andrew James and wife, Jenny of Henderson, Nevada; her brother, Stan Hampton and wife, Brenda of Clare, Michigan; and her brother, Ben Hampton and wife, Patsy of Watauga, Texas. Shirley also had seven grandchildren, Evelyn, Sadie, Aidan, Noelle, Landon, Brielle, and Remi.

Shirley Mae James, 67, of Freeland, Michigan, went to heaven on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 peacefully at her home with family after a long battle with cancer.  Shirley was welcomed to heaven by her late parents, Andrew “AJ” Hampton and Freda June (Krell) Hampton of Clare, Michigan.  She leaves behind her husband, Greg; her son, Robert Querback and wife, Stacy of Essexville, Michigan; her daughter, Penny Lloyd-Jones and husband, Steve of Rockford, Michigan; and her son, Andrew James and wife, Jenny of Henderson, Nevada; her brother, Stan Hampton and wife, Brenda of Clare, Michigan; and her brother, Ben Hampton and wife, Patsy of Watauga, Texas.  Shirley also had seven grandchildren, Evelyn, Sadie, Aidan, Noelle, Landon, Brielle, and Remi.  Shirley will be remembered by the many students that she safely transported to and from school as a bus driver for the Midland Public School system for twenty one of years.  She also enjoyed quilting, hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with family.  Some of Shirley’s best friends were her dogs.

 

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday December 18, 2017 at the Midland Baptist Church, 5009 Jefferson, Midland. Rev. James Payne will officiate. Burial will take place in Lee Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cunningham/Taylor Funeral Home, 310 E. Washington St., Freeland on Saturday from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and then at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. The committal service will follow the luncheon at the church.
