Our loving father, son, brother, grandson, godson, cousin, and friend passed away Friday night on December 22 in Gladwin County at the age of 27 years. He was born April 23, 1990 in Tawas, Michigan to Julie (Brown) and Charles VanSnepson.
Blake grew up in the Big Rapids area and attended St. Mary's Catholic School where he was an active Boy Scout, Alter Server, and an high achieving basketball player. Blake is a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians and spent most of his summers on the Reservation with his cousin, Thomas (Hunter) Allard participating in Tribal customs, including Pow Wows, sweat lodges, and other Native events. Blake attended Delta College for a degree in social work to help troubled youth, and enjoyed a career working in the pizza industry before pursuing trade-smithing with many of his cousins. Blake loved spending time outdoors, especially around a campfire, blaring music, cracking jokes, playing video games, showing off his muscles to anyone who'd look, and planning his first best-selling novel. His true passion was for his son, Gabriel, and taking him mud bogging, wrestling on the floor, fixing cars, or just watching cartoons. He was a Celtic at heart and dreamed of one day owning a ranch with wild horses.
