Passed away December 31, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family members. John was born August 12, 1940 in Auburn, MI to the late Albert A. and Anna J. (Hachtel) Lutz, growing up in the Auburn area. John graduated from T. L. Handy High School in 1958.  John was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Freeland. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved playing euchre, enjoyed taking trips to the casino and going up north. John retired from Central Foundry in 1991. John helped so many people over the years, he was always willing, and he mowed lawns for several widows in Freeland and worked on their plumbing and the general up keep of their homes. John also loved baked and no ice cookies.  John married Betty Peake on June 25, 1977, she survives him. Also surviving are his children; Dawn Daniels of Jasper, AR, John Mike (Rochelle) Lutz of Jasper, AR, Charles A. Lutz of Freeland. Grandchildren; Josh, Amanda, Luke, April, Joseph and Michael. Sister; Elaine (Charles) Malecki of Midland, Anna Lewandowski of Clarkston. Brothers; Robert (Joan) Lutz of Bay City, Albert (Laurie) Lutz of Dayton, OH. Brothers-in-law; Richard (Brenda) Peake of Midland, Floyd (Karen) Peake of Saginaw, James (Trina) Peake of Rhodes, Tom (Tresha) Peake of Saginaw. Sisters-in-law; Mary (Tom) Phillips of Saginaw. Several loving nieces and nephews also survive John.  John was predeceased by a son-in-law; Ray Daniels, his brothers; Leonard Lutz and Herman Lutz, sisters-in-law; Carol Eurich, Linda Peake, Donna Peake and Debra Lutz. Brother-in-law; Tom Lewandowski and Daryl Eurich. Mother-in-law; Mary Peake Johnson, Fathers-in-law; Floyd Peake and Roy Johnson

 

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday January 5, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, Freeland. Rev. Robert G. Schmidt will officiate. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Freeland. Friends may call at Zion Lutheran Church, 545 Seventh St., Freeland on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
