Survived By: Surviving besides his wife Rosalie are two daughters and one son, Karen (Michael) McKnight, Montrose; Robert (Debbie) Schliska, Carrollton Twp.; Dr. Rose Marie ( Dr. Gary) Lange; Saginaw Twp; four grandchildren, Jason (Jessica) Schliska, Dylan McKnight, Julia Lange and Theodore Lange; a great-grandson, Declan Schliska; a sister, Edna Schliska; a brother, Clyde (Anne) Schliska; many nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his three siblings, William Schliska, Marie Stepanski and Gloria Glenn.

 Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018 at St. Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center.  Age 82 years.  The son of the late William and Edna (Prevo) Schliska, Ed was born on October 20, 1935.  He married Rosalie LaLonde on October 5, 1957. She survives him. Ed proudly served in the United States Navy for 22 years and was a Korean War Veteran. After retiring from the Navy, Ed went to work for the Saginaw City Fire Department and also worked construction for the Saginaw Foundation Company for 20+ years. He was a member of St. Francis Assisi Parish-St. Casimir Catholic Church and life member of V.F.W. Post #1566.  He enjoyed spending time up north at the family cottage, hunting, but most of all spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.  Ed’s true gift was being a great listener and always having an open door for his family and friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his three siblings, William Schliska, Marie Stepanski and Gloria Glenn.

 The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Doctors and staff of St. Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center for their loving and compassionate care to Ed.

 Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish – St. Casimir Catholic Church, 2122 S. Jefferson Ave.  Rev. Fr. Thomas Schmied, OFM Cap. will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by V.F.W. Post #1566.  Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. A Fireman Walk-Thru will take place at 6:30 p.m. and the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
