Survived By: Susie is survived by four sons - Gordon (Diana) Kociba of Bad Axe, Harold (Janice) Kociba of Bad Axe, Gerald (Rosemarie) Kociba of Bad Axe and Eugene (Cindy) Kociba of Frankenmuth and one daughter Ilene Learman of Harbor Beach; twenty-eight grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers Martin (Beatrice) Osantowski of Bad Axe, Peter Osantowski of Detroit and Arthur (Marie) Osantowski of Bad Axe; and three sisters - Virginia Partaka of Harbor Beach, Martha Stasinski of Redford and Rose Schumacher of Flint; and a sister-in-law, Joann Osantowski of Detroit, and many nieces and nephews.

Susie P. Kociba, age 98, of Bad Axe, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018, in Bad Axe.  Susie was born in Parisville on February 9, 1919, the daughter of the late Peter and Rose (Czewski) Osantowski.  She married Leo Kociba on June 29, 1940, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Parisville.  Leo preceded her in death on July 15, 2000.

Susie worked on the family farm, at Active Industries in both Elkton and Sebewaing, the Bad Axe Seatbelt Factory, was a Gardner at Fernwood Botanic Gardens, and cared for the plants and sold wine at Dizzy Daisy Winery.

Susie is survived by four sons - Gordon (Diana) Kociba of Bad Axe, Harold (Janice) Kociba of Bad Axe, Gerald (Rosemarie) Kociba of Bad Axe and Eugene (Cindy) Kociba of Frankenmuth and one daughter – Ilene Learman of Harbor Beach; twenty-eight grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.  She is also survived by three brothers – Martin (Beatrice) Osantowski of Bad Axe, Peter Osantowski of Detroit and Arthur (Marie) Osantowski of Bad Axe; and three sisters - Virginia Partaka of Harbor Beach, Martha Stasinski of Redford and Rose Schumacher of Flint; and a sister-in-law, Joann Osantowski of Detroit, and many nieces and nephews.

Susie was preceded in death by a son, Ervin; a daughter, Virginia; her brothers – Roman, Theodore, Robert, Fabian, and Adam Osantowski; sisters – Minnie Nowiski and Laura Jaskowski; son-in-laws – Michael Zurek and John Learman, daughter-in-law – Jean Kociba; a grandson – James Learman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at 11 am at St. Hubert Parish – Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe.  Fr. Rob Howe will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.  Friends may call at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe on Monday from 1–8 pm or Tuesday at the church from 10 am until the service time at 11 am.

 A Scripture Service will be offered Monday evening at 7 pm at the funeral home.
