Walter L. Gregory, 80, of Kinde and Avon Park, Florida, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 11, 2018 under hospice care.

 

Walter was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on November 30, 1937 to the late Alfred and Effie (Eulett) Gregory.

 

On April 10, 1982, he married Jo Ann Arnett.  They were married for thirty-five years.

 

He earned his Associates Degree in Accounting and Business from Syracuse University.  Walt was in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He then worked for the National Security Agency (NSA) for twenty years, was a real estate agent and worked security at Pointe Aux Barques.  Walter was a member of the Community Wesleyan Church in Elkton for thirty years and served as treasurer for thirteen years.  He was also a member of the Huron County Gideons.

 

Walter enjoyed being with his family and planning family activities.  He loved biking, hunting, taking walks and reading.

 

Walter is survived by his wife, JoAnn Gregory of Avon Park, Florida; daughters, Helen Ladonde and her husband, Robert, of Laingsburg, Michigan and Rachelle McIntyre and her husband, Scott, of Kinde, Michigan; grandchildren, Aerion McIntyre (significant other, Tim Russell), Madeline McIntyre (significant other, Evan Grifka), Abby McIntyre, Christopher Lalonde (fiancé, Ariana Clark), Nabi Lalonde (significant other, Selby Gerkin), Isaac Lalonde, Lydia Lalonde, Nathan Lalonde and Rachael Lalonde; great-grandchildren, Elii McIntyre and Penelope Maxwell; his brothers, Keith Gregory and his wife, Brenda of Portsmouth, Ohio and Dennis Gregory of Waverly, Ohio; his sister, Judy Lewis and her husband, William, of South Shore, Kentucky and many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Gregory and his sister, Betty Plowman.

 

Funeral service for Walter will be 11 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2018 at the Community Wesleyan Church in Elkton with Rev. William O’Nan officiating.  Burial with military honors will be at Riverside Cemetery in Elkton. 

 

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the MacAlpine Mac Chapel in Bad Axe and on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.

 

Memorials may be offered to the Huron County Gideons.
