LeRoy “Bob” Bentura Dunn, 70, of Bay City, MI passed away, Sunday, February 11th 2018 at his home. Bob was born May 23rd 1947 in Wyandotte, Michigan to Elmer and Shirley (Reyes) Dunn. He earned his GED while in service to the US Army. On September 14th 1968 he married the love of his life, Phyllis(Luyk) Dunn in Wayland, Michigan. Bob was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic for the State of Florida before he was disabled while on the job. He enjoyed working on vehicles of all sorts and at one time in his life owned his own repair shop with his father Elmer. He enlisted in the US Army in 1965 and served in Korea from 1966-1967. He was member of Kawkawlin Community Church and a member of the VFW Post #6950 Linwood/Kawkawlin. Bob had many joys in his life but none greater than spending time with his family.

 

Bob is survived by his wife of 49 years Phyllis; three sons: David (Nancy); Michael (Melissa); Daniel (Kelli); one daughter, Sarah (Robert); and adopted son Joey; 21 grandchildren: Amber, David Jr, Rachel, AnnaMaria; Michaela, Macey, Michael Jr; Jaden, Jordan, Isaac, Kyle; Mark, Samantha, Payton, Taylor, Timothy, Hannah, Noah; and adopted grandchildren: John, Sandra, Gerritt;a great grandson Luke,  5 sisters; 1 brother; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Elmer and Shirley; and his son Mark; and a sister Laura. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 17th at Kawkawlin Community Church: 311 E. Grove St Kawkawlin, MI 48631; with full military honors to follow. The Reverend David L. Dunn will be officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 until 8:00 PM, Friday, February 16th at Rivertown Funeral Home in Kawkawlin. A VFW ritual service will take place at 7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers; memorials may be made to the “wishes of the family”.
