 William A. Fick

William Fick passed away Monday evening, February 12, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 90 years. William was born in Bay City on November 20, 1927 to the late William and Emma (Kolb) Fick. He married the former Virginia M. Thompson on July 7, 1950 in Bay City, she preceded him in death on May 1, 2004. William served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was an active longtime member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church. William worked and retired as a machinist from Newcor after many years. In his free time he enjoyed gardening, hunting but most of all loved golfing.

 

William is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Collins of Essexville and Debra (Gerald) Hintz of Bay City; grandchildren, Rochelle (Randall) Zimmerman, Heather (Guy) Krakowski and Kyle (Jillian) Hintz; great grandchildren, Collin, Isabella, Gabrielle Zimmerman and Madisson, Hannah and Amelia Krakowski; sister, Lucille Traxler and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by great grandson, Charlie Krakowski; son-in-law, Gary Collins; brother, Edward and sisters, Esther, Maxine, Viola and Lois.

 

Funeral services will take place Friday, February 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Paul E. Schaewe with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may visit with the family at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Fick will be taken to the church on Friday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
