Penny L Gonyea, of Midland MI, passed away Tuesday February 13, 2018. She was 70 years young. She was born in Saginaw, MI on April 30, 1947 to the late Joseph Eimers and Isabel (Wright) Eimers. She is survived by the love of her life, Michael “Mick” E. Gonyea of Midland, MI. Also surviving are her children, Rebecca Birnbaum of Freeland MI, Christine  (Chaz) Cornell of Beaverton, MI, David Snarski of Granville, TN, April Snarski  of Hemlock, MI, Michael (Brenda) Gonyea Jr of Killeen, TX, Lori (Ron) McLorin  of Springbranch, TX, Kristina Leach of Auburn, MI, Jill McVannel of Hemlock,  MI; her grandchildren, Kevin Birnbaum and Andrew (Michele) Birnbaum of  Midland, MI, Amber Birnbaum of Freeland, MI, Morgan (John) Damvelt of  Beaverton, MI, Kelsey Swinehart of Kentwood, MI, Amanda Colmus of Beaverton,  MI, Johnny (Andrea) Colmus of Copley, OH, Cassandra Cornell of Panama City,  FL, Skyla, Nicholas and Zane Snarski of Zeeland, MI, Shane Leach of Auburn, MI, Zachary Rutter and Kelly Gonyea of Austin, MI, Deanna Gonyea of Killeen,  TX, Kelly McVannel of Hemlock, MI, Trevor McVannel of Abilene, TX, Taylor McVannel of Hemlock, MI, and Connor McVannel of Flint, MI. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren and a sister, Suzanne (John) Green, formerly of Saginaw, MI and a special niece, Randy Ribble of Saginaw, MI. She was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Arthur Ribble and a grandson, Justin Leach. Penny was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and was affectionately known as  the “unofficial” Mayor of Midland. She had a warm smile and big hug for  everyone she met and was considered a Grandma to all children she knew or even  met for the first time. She touched many people’s lives and will be greatly  missed by all who knew and loved her.

 

Honoring Penny's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday February 15, 2018 at Messiah Lutheran Church (Gordonville and Poseyville Roads) Midland, Deacon Dennis Kreil will officiate. Penny's family will receive friends at the CHURCH on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in memory of Penny.
