Elma Zuellig

Frankenmuth, MI

Elma Katherine Zuellig was lovingly called to her heavenly home on February 27.  Her quiet personality, gentle spirit and giving nature endeared her to her family and all who treasured her friendship.

Elma was born to David and Eva Elisabeth (Daubert) Wolf on August 24, 1916 in Blackmar, MI one of 8 children.  Her parents were Volga Germans immigrating to the USA in 1912 from Russia, originally scheduled to be aboard the RMS Titanic.  She was so looking forward to reuniting with all her brothers and sisters already in heaven:  Amelia (Norman Voorheis) and (Henry) Rummel; Lydia (Norton) Robinson; David (Marie) Wolf; Henry (Helen) Wolf; William Herbert (Helen) Wolf; Bertha (Roy) Nelson; Edna (William) Hovey.

She married Delmar Zuellig on September 30, 1939 in Birch Run, MI.  He predeceased her on May 17, 1987.  She is also preceded in death by brothers-in law and sisters-in-law:  Oscar and Minnie Zuellig, Selma and Ralph Sproul, Hulda Cole, Walter and Esther Zuellig, Clara and Henry Gray, Irma and Herman Veitengruber, Gladys and Raymond Dubrulle.  Also preceding her in death was a beloved son, Duane Zuellig.

During WWII Elma served her country as a Rosie the Riveter at the AC Plant in Flint.  Elma worked as a partner with her husband Delmar establishing their residential building business, Delmar Zuellig Building Contractor.  Together they spent many memorable times with friends at their cottage at Tawas and at Palmetto Palms in Florida.  She loved shelling with her grandchildren at Sanibel Island, playing euchre, bingo, dominoes and Rummikub and visiting shut-ins with the Sunshine Club of St. John's Lutheran Church where she's been a long time member.

Elma is survived by sons William (Dorothy) Zuellig, Thomas (Lynn) Zuellig; 4 grandchildren:  Dr. Andrea Zuellig (Ed Cunningham), Dr. Alissa Carlson (Ryan), Melanie (Michael) Manthey, Alex (Bianca) Zuellig and 6 great grandchildren:  Ian Cunningham, Amelia and Eli Carlson and Effie, Knox and Wells Manthey.  She also leaves many dear nieces and nephews and former daughter-in-law Nancy Zuellig.

A celebration of life service will take place Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1200 E. Genesee, Frankenmuth, Michigan.  Rev.
