Judith Lea Sczepanski

Judith Lea “Judy” Sczepanski, 83 of Midland, died Wednesday morning March 7, 2018 at the Mid-Michigan Medical Center. She was born May 3, 1934 in Saginaw, daughter of the late Russell and Harriett (Kampfert) Woodruff. Judy attended Saginaw Public Schools and was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School. On September 1, 1956, she married the love of her life and best friend, the late Joseph “Joe” Sczepanski. Together they enjoyed family gatherings, camping, and their many friends. Judy worked for Midland Public Schools at Longview Elementary as a Paraprofessional, retiring after 30 years. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for many years and was very active in church events. Judy will be remembered for being the most amazing wife, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was always giving, caring, and would do anything for anyone. Judy was a truly remarkable friend.

She is survived by her children Mike(Tammie Reidel) Sczepanski, Steve (Janet Spann) Sczepanski, Linda (Tim) Lumbert, Lisa (Bob) Sanderson, John (Cheri Mostek) Sczepanski, and Lori (Cliff) Mapes; grandchildren Jason (fiancée Delaine Alcaraz) Sczepanski, Jennifer (Adam) Zoellner, Eric (Kristin Alvarado) Sczepanski, Sandra (Josh) Anderson, Matthew (Holly Pine) Sanderson, Nick Sczepanski, Josh Sanderson, Kimberly Sczepanski, Jake Sanderson, Ania Sczepanski, Chloe Mapes, and Cameron Mapes; great-grandchildren Aidan Sczepanski, Leah Huey, Alivia Huey, Mikayela Sczepanski, Caleb Zoellner, Blake Sczepanski, Corbin Anderson, Conor Sczepanski, Ivy Williams, and Emmalee Sanderson. In addition to her parents and husband, Judy was preceded in death by her sister Barbara “Barb” Fuller and granddaughter Emily Sanderson.

The Funeral Liturgy for Judy will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday March 13, 2018 from Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Fr. Kevin Maksym as Celebrant. Judy’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St. on Monday from 3-7 P.M. and at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 A. M. until the time of Mass. A Vigil for the deceased will be held at 7:00 P.M. Monday evening at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or Blessed Sacrament Catholic School.
