Mrs. Briceland, 91, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018. She was born in Detroit on September 17, 1926 to the late Edward & Elizabeth (Ruloff) Cox.  A devout life-long Catholic, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Child Development from Marygrove College in Detroit. Barbara married Thomas Dillon Briceland on September 3, 1949 in Detroit. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1988.  She was retired from J. L. Hudson Company after 25 years. 




Grandma B will be forever cherished as the matriarch of the family. She imbued in her children and grandchildren the importance of family, appreciation of life, and devotion to the Catholic faith. Barbara was actively involved in the lay ministry of the church. She also enjoyed collecting & reading books, working New York Times crossword puzzles, traveling with family and challenging  her grandchildren in Scrabble, as well as talking with her sister about all the family news.  Barbara cared passionately about her community and making a better life for her fellow citizens. 



She is survived by her children: John & Kathie Briceland, Timothy & Deborah Briceland-Betts, Kathleen & Carlos Sequeira, Barbara & Jim Ames, Patrick Briceland and Jane Sauvie; 8 grandchildren: Ryan, Adam, Krysta, David, Colleen, Alaina, GianCarlo and Tara; one great grandson, Kai; a sister, Mary Haley, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Briceland was preceded in death by a son Thomas Briceland, a sister Ellen Revesz, and brother Jack Cox. 


Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday March 15, 2018 at 10  am from Prince of Peace-St. Anne Church with Rev. Fr. Nicholas Coffaro & Deacon Michael Arnold presiding with burial in St. Andrews Cemetery Saginaw. The family will be present at the Rivertown Funeral Chapel on Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm to greet friends and family. On Wednesday at 7 pm a vigil service will be held at the funeral chapel. On Thursday Mrs. Briceland will lie in state at the church from 9 am until time of mass.
