Survived By: Alma was the loving mother of nine children, four of whom survive with their spouses, Butch & Barbie Brown of Caro, L.J. & Dianne Brown of Laramie, Wyoming, Richard & Meredith Brown of Vassar, Karen Brown of Vassar; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; eighteen great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Almond DeGeer of Grand Rapids; one sister, Harrietta Rummel of Vassar; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Alma was preceded in death by five children, Kenneth, Robert, Dennis, Tommy and Rodney Brown; one great-grandson, Dakota Reavey; three brothers and one sister, James, George and Robert DeGeer, and Alice McLaughlin.

Alma F. Brown of Vassar, age 92, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at her home.  Alma was born October 6, 1925 in Flint, the daughter of the late Almond and Ada (VanBrunt) DeGeer.  Alma was a 1943 graduate of Vassar High School.  She was united in marriage with George Edward Brown on April 1, 1944 in Caro, and he preceded her in death on February 28, 1997.  Alma was employed in housekeeping at the Caro Regional Center, retiring in 1985 after more than twenty years of employment.  She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels through the Human Development Commission, and was a member of ABATE of Michigan, Caro Moose Lodge, Dom Polski Polish American Club, Blue Star Mothers, and Cork Pine Campers.  She enjoyed writing, camping, cooking, riding motorcycles, having ridden to Washington D.C., and playing euchre at the Moose Lodge.  Most importantly, Alma enjoyed being with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Mayville United Methodist Church with Rev. Carole A. Brown officiating.  The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:30 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Alma Brown Family Discretionary Fund, c/o Richard Brown, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723.
