Survived By: Surviving are his brother, Dennis Hanafin of Roscommon; sister, Frances Rochow of Bay City; and many nieces and nephews.

Patrick J. Hanafin, 84, Roscommon, died March 24, 2018, at home, surrounded by his family.  He was born in Royal Oak April 2, 1933, to Francis L. and Eileen (Cusick) Hanafin.  Patrick was raised and lived in Essexville.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  Patrick worked for Aero Space of America in Bay City as a purchasing agent for more than 20 years, retiring in 1985. In 1985, he moved to Roscommon.  Patrick attended St. Michael Catholic Church, Roscommon.  He volunteered for Mercy Hospice, Kirtland Center for the Performing Arts and the Crawford County Historical Museum.  Patrick enjoyed building birdhouses and working in his workshop.  He was “Uncle Pat” to all who knew him.   Surviving are his brother, Dennis Hanafin of Roscommon; sister, Frances Rochow of Bay City; and many nieces and nephews.  Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Michael and Peter Hanafin; sisters, Joyce Harris and Mary Grace Pero; brothers-in-law, Robert Harris, Richard Pero and Frank Rochow; nephews, Phillip Hanafin and Brady Johnson; and niece, Michelle Barnard.  A service will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church Saturday, April 14, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Father Richard Schaeffer officiating.  Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the Mass. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery, South Branch Township. Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon, handled arrangements.  Memorial donations may be made to the family for a charity to be determined.
