Age: 82 years

Arnold Leroy Colbath, our quick-witted dad, grandfather, uncle, and great-grandfather, was born into eternal life Sunday, April 15, 2018, at the age of 82. A funeral ceremony will be held in his honor Wednesday, April 18th, at 12:00 PM at Hope St. John’s Parish in Oscoda. Arnie’s family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00 AM to the time of service on Wednesday.

Arnie was born February 14, 1936, the son of Fred and Mable (Conklin) Colbath. He married the love of his life, Yvonne Gardner, on June 13, 1958; and together the two grew their family to include three children. Arnie was a truck driver for the Iosco County Road Commission from 1962 to 1999 when he decided to retire. He had a passion for slow rides around town in his truck; and of course, stopping to give friends a hard time along the way. You see, if Arnie didn’t tease you about something, he probably didn’t care for you all that much. His rides would also include frequent stops to the gas station to pick up a couple scratch-off tickets; and if he didn’t win big, he figured there’s always tomorrow. The casino was a favorite place of his, and it didn’t matter which casino as he could gamble anywhere. In his younger years, he enjoyed taking his wife out to dinner and dancing, playing pool, and deer hunting with his son, Rob. More recently, Arnie lived for visitors. He enjoyed being with people and hearing about what everyone had going on in their lives.

Arnie’s humorous nature and loving ways will be deeply missed by his son, Rob Colbath; daughters, Diane (Randy) Ball and Debbie Myles; grandchildren, Jason (Rachel), Heather, Jennifer, Kyle (Myra), Melissa (Chad), and Brandon; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Yvonne in 2016, and several brothers and sisters.

Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Hope St. John’s Parish in lieu of flowers. Envelopes will be available at the church. You may offer condolences at
