Age 86 of Owosso passed away Friday, April 27, 2018 at Oliver Woods Retirement Village.
 
Funeral services will be held 11am Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Nelson-House Funeral Homes, Owosso Chapel with Rev. Ray Strawser officiating. Burial will follow at Ithaca Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:30am until the time of service.
 
Bart was born November 19, 1931 in Gratiot County, the son of Harold and Edna (Mills) Barnes.
 
He graduated from Ithaca High School and proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict. 
 
Bart was a member of the VFW Post 7805, Ithaca and the Masonic Lodge #123, Ithaca. He enjoyed walking, playing golf, working in the yard and traveling. Most of all Bart looked forward to time with family and he especially enjoyed attending their sporting events.
 
He married Phyllis Marie Cummings at Ithaca Methodist Church on January 20, 1957; she predeceased him in 2017.
 
Bart was employed with the Michigan State Police as a Trooper and Detective/Sargent for 25 years. After leaving Michigan State Police in 1979 he began his 15 year career with the 66th District Court as Court Administrator and Magistrate.
 
He is survived by his children Matthew (Theresa) Barnes, Michele (Louie) Ambs, Mark (Lynn) Barnes and Michael (Michele) Barnes; grandchildren Devin (Andrea), Niccole (Gavin), Brandon (Jessica), Alex, Kendall, Garrett and Gavin; 4 great-grandchildren; sister Delores Sailor; sister-in-laws Connie Malloy and Coleen (Larry) Trexler; several nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
 
Bart was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Phyllis.
