Robert E. McCrea, 91, of Colfax Township, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 28, 2018 at Meadow Lane Assisted Living under Heartland Hospice care.

 

Bob was born in Bad Axe, Michigan on November 23, 1926 to the late Edward and Nettie (Stouffer) McCrea.

 

On January 22, 1949, he married the love of his life, Beverly Roberts at the First Presbyterian Church in Ubly.   She preceded him in death on March 21, 2012.

 

Bob was a farmer and builder.  Bob went on many adventures flying private planes.  During the Korean Conflict, his little two-seater plane ran out of gas.  He had to land the plane at the Oscoda Air Base.   They were not very welcoming at first but Bob made fast friends with them.   Bob also loved fishing in his boat and hunting. 

 

Robert is survived by his sons, Robert McCrea of California, Russell McCrea and his wife, Amy,  of Snover, and Scott McCrea and his wife, Bronwen of Pennsylvania; his daughter, Janice McCrea-Turosky and her fiancé, Chuck Fehner, of Saline, Michigan; his grandchildren: Steven, Anna, and Nicholas Turosky; Austin, Molly, Devon and Grace McCrea and Dylan and Sydney McCrea.   He was also survived by many nieces and nephews, and  his very special friend, Marianne Neeb.

 

He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill McCrea and his sisters, Betty Mayes and June Hamill and his close friend and companion, Frieda Reinman.

 

Funeral service for Bob will be 11 a.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe with Mel McCracken officiating.  Burial will follow at Colfax Township Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe and on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
