Genevra Ann (Genny) Stier, age 87, of Bay City (formerly of Columbiaville) died Monday, July 9, 2018, after living a very full, blessed and happy life. Mrs. Stier was born on September 17, 1930 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of the late Floyd and Delores (O'Flaherty) Perry. She grew up in Detroit and graduated from Southeastern High School in 1948. Genny married the late Ron Stier on April 12, 1952 and together they had four children. She is survived by daughter, Cathleen and husband Gerald Schell of Bay City and their children; Jeff and wife Ellen, Katie, Greg and Emily; son Ron and wife Diane of Empire, and their children, Luke and wife Sarah, Kelly, and Garrett and wife Laura; son, Tom and wife Carol of Harrison and their children Travis and Todd; daughter; Lynda and husband Novo Bojovic of Novi and their children, Halie and husband Russell Braden, and Max; great grand children; Alice, Theo, Adalyn, Kenley, Lilah and Amelia; sister, Nina and husband Bart Huthwaite; brother, Fred and wife Dorothy Perry; sister in law, Anne Perry; several nieces and nephews; life long friend, Joyce Thatcher; and her special Bay City Domino and Poker friends. She was very loved and will be missed by many.


She was preceded in death by two brothers, Buster and Ed; and a sister, Fran Wattles.


Genny was actively involved in several organizations. She was a past member of the Columbiaville Women's Service League, served on the PTL, was a Girl Scout Leader and later became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bay City. For many years, Genny worked beside her husband in the drugstore they owned in Columbiaville. In addition, she enjoyed traveling and felt fortunate that she had the opportunity to visit all 50 states. Genny participated on bowling teams in both Flint and Lapeer, earning several team championships. She also participated in golf leagues in Lapeer. Genny had a passionate love for the Detroit Tigers and the Michigan Wolverines, but the greatest love was for her family. She was a devoted wife, and amazing mother and the grandmother that all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren adored. Everyone who knew her knows she loved popcorn and anything purple.


A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 AM Friday, July 20, 2018 at the Columbiaville United Methodist Church, 4696 Pine St, Columbiaville, MI 48421, with Rev. Steve Wenzel officiating.

The family will receive visitors from 10 AM until the time of service at the church.
