Survived By: two sons and one daughter: Lawrence (Geralyn) Morel Jr. of Reese; Rick (Susan) Morel of Birch Run; Janice "Jana" Morel (Peter DuRussel) of Munger; and her daughter-in-law, Debra Morel of Lebanon, TN. Her nine grandchildren: Sarah (Kerry) Messing of Reese; Brian Morel of Munger; John (Stephanie) Morel of Flushing; Greg (Brittney) Morel of Little River, SC; Lisa (Chris) Phillips living in East Asia; Falon (Gais) Nemri of Lebanon, TN; Felicia (Danny) Hacker of Carthage, TN; Drake Morel of Munger; and Monique "Nikki" McGowan of Paradise CA; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are three sisters; Jeanie Madziar, Monica Wisniewski, both of Bay City, and Claire Perkins of Tampa, FL. Her sister-in-law, Pat Morel of Saginaw, and two brothers-in-law Gerald Morel of Florida, Ronald (Marilyn) Morel of Munger. She also has other family and friends too numerous to mention.
Affiliations: A Homemaker most of her life, Barbara also was employed for twenty-five years at both Melchek's Market and Melchek's Laundromat and Dry Cleaning in Reese. She was a member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Munger most of her life, before its closing, and was a current member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese. While at St. Norbert, she was a member of the Alter Society, the League of Catholic Women, and spent countless hours working funeral dinners at the parish hall and will always be remembered for making her deviled eggs. She also served as a Lay Minister, visiting the sick of St. Norbert's Parish, and delivering the Sacraments.

Barbara A. Morel, 85, of Munger, died Wednesday evening, July 11, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region. She was born August 14, 1932 in Bay City, daughter of the late Walter and Martha (Luptowski) Matuszewski. On May 10, 1952 she was married to Lawrence Joseph Morel Sr. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bay City.  He predeceased her November 14, 1997, a separation that had been twenty years, seven months and twenty-seven days. A Homemaker most of her life, Barbara also was employed for twenty-five years at both Melchek’s Market and Melchek’s Laundromat and Dry Cleaning in Reese. She was a member of St. Norbert’s Catholic Church in Munger most of her life, before its closing, and was a current member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese. In addition to her parents and husband Lawrence, Barbara was predeceased by her son, David Morel; her brother Walter and his wife Jaqueline Matuszewski; sister Rita and her husband Joseph Madziar; and in-laws Stanley Madziar; Joseph Wisniewski; Laurence Primeau; Dick Perkins; and Marge and Leo Greenia.

 

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese. Father Christian Tabares will officiate with Committal Services to follow in the St. Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery. Barbara’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw St. in Reese on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Liturgy. A Vigil Service for Barbara will take place at 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
