NEELEY, Ruth Ann – of Clio, Age 71, Went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Carl Lindsey officiating. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 2-8 PM and Tuesday from 10AM until time of service at 11AM. Burial will be in West Vienna Cemetery in Clio, following the service.

Ruth was born on March 1, 1947 in Sikeston, MO to Lester and Phyllis (Shuemaker) Lindsey, the oldest of seven siblings. The family moved to Clio when Ruth was very young, and she lived in Clio for the remainder of her life. She graduated from Clio High School and a week after graduation, Ruth married the love of her life, James D. Neeley of Clio on June 18, 1966. They remained married for fifty-two years.

Ruth worked in the Clio Area School District for many years as a cafeteria worker and was loved by many of the children she came in contact with. She was also a den mother for Cub Scout Pack 366, and a Brownie Scout leader in Girl Scout Troop 304. After retirement, Ruth and Jim became very active in the Neeley-LaBar American Legion Post #158 in Clio, where Ruth had previously served as the Auxiliary Chapter Chaplain. They were both active in the Retiree Chapter of the UAW Local #599 in Flint.

Ruth enjoyed crafting, camping, weekly game night with close friends, and casino trips. Most of all, Ruth enjoyed spending quality time with her family, for whom she was a rock and a great source of strength. She was loved by all she came in contact with and will be greatly missed.

Ruth is survived by: Husband, James D. Neeley of Clio; Sons: Daniel G. Neeley (Brian Bergey) of Grand Rapids, And Mitchell G. Neeley of Clio; Daughter, Crista L. Lowell (Jerome) of Mt. Morris; 9 grandchildren: Grace Neeley of Phoenix, AZ, Alex Neeley of Canton Township, Tyler Anderson of Clio, Hunter Anderson of Port Huron, Jaye Lowell of Millington, Yaeko Lowell of Grand Rapids, Brooklynn Lowell of Clio, Makenzie Bergey of Grand Rapids, and Alexxa Morley of Mansfield, OH; 2 great grandchildren: Samaria Bracy-Bradley and Kyler Young; Mother, Phyllis Lindsey of Clio; Brothers: James Lindsey of Clio, and Carl Lindsey of Fernandina Beach, FL; Sisters: Linda Brown, and Loretta Mansfield both of Mt. Morris. Many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Lindsey; Brother, John Lindsey; Sister, Donna Camp.
