Mr. Bauer 95 passed away at Covenant Health Source-Harrison after a brief illness. He was born in Auburn, Michigan on August 5, 1923 to the late John & Beulah (West) Bauer. He married the former Mary Lou (Richmond) Bauer on July 2, 1948 at Monitor Trinity Lutheran Church-Rectory. She preceded him in death on December 21, 2013.  Ed was farming on the family farm as well as working at Dow Chemical retiring in 1981 and was a lifetime member of the Trinity Lutheran-Monitor Church. He and Mary Lou loved traveling and spending time at the cottage at Secord Lake.  He enjoyed hunting, and fishing, he will always be remembered for his feisty love of fun given to family and friends.  He has been living with his son at the Hope Lutheran Church where he thoroughly enjoyed being part of the church family.

He is survived by his son Reverend Roger Bauer; 3 sisters Beulah “Bootsy” Bauer, Dorothy Sinicki and Lois Martin, sister in law Florence Bauer. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Ivan Bauer and Herb Bauer; 5 sisters Helen Lederer, Edna Wegener, Margarite Behmlander, Eleanor Wackerly, and Betty Bauer.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 2 pm from Trinity Lutheran Church-Monitor with Rev. David Sherry presiding with burial in Home Cemetery. On Thursday, September 27, 2018 visitation will be at Hope Lutheran Church, 4758 Church, Rhodes, MI from 11 am to 4 pm with a memorial service at 4 pm with Pastor Reed Schroer and Pastor Roger Bauer presiding. On Friday and Saturday family will receive visitors at Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Home, 312 W. Midland Rd., Auburn, MI from 2 to 8 pm. On Sunday, Mr. Bauer will lie in state at the church from 1 pm until time of services. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hope Lutheran Church or Trinity Lutheran Church-Monitor in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are entrusted to Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Pinconning Chapel.
