Jack passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Healthsource of Saginaw at 85 years of age. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. Jack was born April 8, 1933 in Winn, Michigan to Clifford and Winifred (Garber) Ackerman. He was the third of four children. Jack proudly served in the US Army from 1953 to 1956 and is also a Korean Conflict veteran. When returning home from the military and was stationed at Ft. Sheridan, Illinois, Jack met and married Lorraine Foster in 1957 in Angola, Indiana. They were married for 39 years and had eight children. Jack retired from General Motors after 45 years of service as a millwright. He was also a part-time farmer and raised American Cream Draft horses for many years. Jack was a hunter and loved traveling to the Upper Peninsula with his wife. They resided in Chesaning/Oakley area during his working years, upon retirement in 2000 he moved to Cheboygan. Jack moved to Union Court Assisted Living in April of 2017. While he was there he liked being visited by family, playing cards and being reunited with old friends.


The family would like to thank the staff at Union Court Assisted Living for the excellent care he received over the past year and a half.


Surviving are his children, Irene (Rick) Maciejeski, Jack F. (Susan) Ackerman, Nancy Ackerman, Rosemarie Eastham, Ellen Ackerman, David Ackerman, Donald (Donna) Ackerman, and Michael Ackerman; grandchildren, Devin Combs, Nicholas Ackerman, Jennifer Hunter, Allisha Ackerman, Emily Ackerman, Sarah Ackerman, Kortney Eastham and Tammy Clark; a brother Kenneth Ackerman and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his wife, Lorraine, parents; sisters Loraine and Helen; grandsons Matthew and Brandon.


Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Kendall Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
