Lucas James Hasenburg, 32, of Auburn, passed away Sunday evening, October 7, 2018 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born April 4, 1986 in Saginaw to David Hasenburg and Marie (Sharp) Stoneburner. Lucas grew up in Sanford and Freeland. He graduated from Freeland High School in 2004 and continued his education at Delta College. Lucas was working towards an apprenticeship as a utility line worker.  On August 23, 2014 he married Angela Grazioli at Dow Gardens in Midland. Lucas had an adventurous spirit and thrived in the outdoors. Music was his passion and he loved attending outdoor music festivals, especially Wheatland. Lucas cared for the environment and had a natural green thumb.  One of his favorite plants is a jade plant given to him by his grandmother.  He was a kind, gentle-hearted person who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone or just sit and listen to them for a while.  His down to earth, playful personality made him fast friends with anyone he met.  Lucas was dedicated to his family and loved them more than anything else, especially his son. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. 


In addition to his wife Angela, he is survived by his son Harlen Hasenburg; step children Hendrix and Silas Lange; parents Marie (Lyle) Stoneburner and David (Laurie) Hasenburg; sister Chelsea (Ron) Slocum; grandmothers Mary Sharp and Evelyn Hasenburg; step-brothers Travis(Kim) Larson and Cale Larson. Also surviving is his mother-in-law Corinne Grazioli and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Dennis Sharp and Alfred Hasenburg, father-in-law Charles Fenner, and his beloved dog Chong. 


Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2018, from Messiah Lutheran Church, 1550 S. Poseyville Road, Midland. Lucas’ family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donating towards a trust to benefit Lucas’ son Harlen. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors, 1200 W. Wheeler Street, Midland.
