Robert (Bob) “Abe” Minich, 79, of Midland, died Monday, October 29, 2018 at Brookdale in Midland. He was born March 3, 1939 in Lansing, son of the late Ernest John and Thelma Irene (Graham) Minich. Bob attended Delta College and owned and operated British-European Auto Repair in Midland for many years. On August 15, 1964 he married the former Mary Ann Porter in Lansing. She predeceased him June 9, 2013. He was a former member of Homer Township Fire Rescue. Bob played lead guitar with several bands in the Midland area including; Freight Train and Southbound Traffic. He was a “train nut” and volunteered his time and talent at the Castle Museum in Saginaw, working on their model railroad train layout. He enjoyed being at his garage, playing music, going to auctions, watching NASCAR racing, and exercising at the gym. His most memorable trait was that of helping people.

 

Surviving is his daughter, Marnie Jo Ferraro and her husband Don of Midland; two brothers and three sisters and their spouses; Michael Allen and Judy Minich of Lansing; William Bruce and Beth Minich of Arizona; Marcia and Fred Schelter, Marilyn and Jerry Palmer, and Christine Ferris, all of the Lansing area.

 

A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler St. Midland, MI. Reverend John Pohanka will officiate. His family will receive friends on Saturday from 12 noon until the time of service. His cremains will be interned , next to his wife Mary Ann, in the Homer Township Cemetery.

 

 Instead of sending flowers, Bob’s family requests that those planning an expression of sympathy consider Homer Township Fire Rescue or the Castle Museum in Saginaw.
