Mrs. McDonald, 78, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018 with her loving family at her side at Plainview Senior Community, Auburn, Michigan after a brief illness. She was born in Saginaw, Michigan to Henry L. and Theresa M. (DeShone) Pahssen on June 5, 1940. Doreen was a graduate of St. Peter and Paul Catholic School, Class of 1958. She married Daniel G. McDonald on January 16, 1960 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Saginaw, Michigan. They shared 58 years of marriage at the time of Daniel's passing, July 3, 2018. Doreen retired from Consumers Energy with over 30 years of service. She was a member of Prince of Peace - Sacred Heart Campus. Doreen enjoyed cooking for family and friends, baking her famous cookies, blueberry pie and chocolate fudge and spending time with her family. In her earlier years she raced snowmobiles, always bringing home 1st and 2nd place trophies. Doreen is survived by her daughters; Julie & Matthew Arnold, Sheila McDonald, grandchildren; Emily & Aaron Nowak, Audrey Arnold, Noel & Marc Bean, great granddaughter; Bonnie Bean, sisters; Betty Lou Berg, Virginia & Harold Boehler, sister-in-laws; Dorothy Pahssen, Genevieve Alarie, Kathleen Wilson, Cecilia "Babe" Paige, Donna Johnson, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; Henry & Theresa, husband; Daniel, an infant daughter, brothers; Harry Pahssen, Leon Pahssen, sister; Marcella Pahssen, her father-in-law and mother-in-law; John E. & Jennie L. (Longtin) McDonald, brother and sister-in-laws; Allan & Bernice McDonald, Donald & Irene McDonald, Francis "Bud" McDonald, Odile & Chuck McNally, Fidelis & Walter Putt, Mary & Henry Putt, Sister Maureen McDonald RSM, Monica & Harold Paige, Rita & Frank Salogar, brother-in-laws; Cecil Berg, Jack Alarie, Garry Wilson and Howard Paige. The family would like to thank Dr Hafford, Dr Abramsom, Dr Little, McLaren Hospice and Plainview Senior Community for Doreen's care. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, November 9, 2018 at 10 am from Prince of Peace - Sacred Heart Campus with Rev. Fr. Nicholas F. Coffaro and Deacon Michael Arnold presiding and committal services at Calvary Cemetery, Kawkawlin, Michigan. Family will be present at Rivertown Funeral Chapel on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 1pm to 8pm and on Friday at the church from 9am until mass to receive family and friends. A Vigil service will be held at 7pm Thursday evening at the funeral chapel. Those wishing an expression of sympathy may consider McLaren Hospice or Prince of Peace - Sacred Heart Campus.
