Melvin R. “Bill” Lupton, age 85 went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, November 7, 2018.  Melvin was born in Perrysburg, Ohio to Don and Lucille (nee Williams) Lupton on July 22, 1933.   As a young man, he served as a tank gunner in the U. S. Army, where he served in Korea and attained the rank of Corporal.  On April 11, 1959, he was united in marriage to his wife of fifty-nine years, Grace E. Meier.  Melvin spent his career as a supervisor in the plastics industry, retiring from United Technologies.  He was a faithful member of Trinity St. James Lutheran Church.  He was also a member of the Gilford Gun Club where he taught hunters safety.  Melvin loved spending time at his cabin in Sidtown where he passed on his love of fishing and hunting to his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.  He is survived by his wife and three children: Melvin (Cheryl) Lupton, Lynette (Gregory) Sampson and Timothy Lupton, five grandchildren: Kayla (Ryan) Courier, Cambray Sampson, Jenay (Adam Gainsworth) Lupton, Kimberly Sampson and Kendra Sampson, five great grandchildren: Jordynn, Brayden, Kade, Brycen and Peyton, and three brothers: Robert Lupton, Norman (Shirley) Lupton and Ural (Joy) Lupton.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Trinity St. James Lutheran Church in Munger with burial to follow at Floral Gardens Cemetery.  The Rev. John H. Weldon will officiate.  Military Rites will be provided by the U.S. Army and the Bay County Veterans Council.   Friends may call at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 1 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the service begins.  Those planning on an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the wishes of the family.
