Lloyd Vincent “Pete” Bishop passed away peacefully at Wellspring Lutheran Home in Frankenmuth on Thursday, November 8 at age 82. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan on July 18, 1936 to Lloyd and Alice (Packard) Bishop who predeceased him.


A lifelong resident of Saginaw and Frankenmuth, Pete dedicated his life to teaching and coaching. He started his coaching career during his college years at Aquinas. After receiving his teaching degree, he secured a position at Comstock Park and then Buena Vista High School, where he spent 17 years. After his retirement from BV, Pete continued coaching and teaching at Saginaw Valley State University.


Pete was a goal-oriented person with a very positive attitude. Using these attributes, he was able to earn his PhD from Michigan State University, gain membership in the PGA of America, complete his cross state solo flight, and author two books.


Pete loved to golf. He spent endless hours perfecting his game and sharing his knowledge with others. He gave countless lessons to golfers of all ages and abilities. He was instrumental in the Girls Golf Club at Frankenmuth High School and the youth program at the Fortress.


Surviving besides his wife of almost 25 years, Pam, are: son Matthew of Midland, MI, daughter Alison of South Lyon, MI, daughter-in-law Shelly of Jacksonville, NC, grandchildren Jacob, Taylor, Madison, Amanda, Sarah, Ryan, Hunter, and his first wife, Barb.


Pete was preceded in death by his son Lloyd Thomas (Tom) Bishop.


The family would like to thank Pete’s caregivers at Wellspring and special friend Loren Kramer.


 A memorial service will take place on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth 590 N. Franklin St, Frankenmuth, MI. Pete’s family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. According to Pete’s wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Frankenmuth High School Golf Program, First Tee of Eastern Michigan – Tri-cities, or Wellspring Lutheran Services.
