Survived By: They had three children, Phillip (Jean) Schneider, Trina Manthei, and Mark (Mary Jo) Schneider; four grandchildren: Melissa, Nikita (Jody), Zachary and Hunter; great granddaughter McKenzie and great grandson Robert. They were the love of her life! She also leaves behind her best friend and caregiver of many years, Dee Pelletier.
Affiliations: She joined the Dow Choir at 19, later called Midland Music Society for about 20 years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Midland Water Color Society and was also a member of the Midland Artist Guild for 34 years. She had won 15 awards for her artwork over the years.

Phyllis (Phyl) Ann West Schneider, 84, of Midland, died Monday, December 10, 2018 at MidMichigan Medical Center.  She and her twin brother, Phillip West were born August 10, 1934 and brother Michael West on October 23, 1940 to Wilbur and Catherine (Hayes) West.

 

Phyllis was a graduate of Midland High School in 1953. She joined the Dow Choir at 19, later called Midland Music Society for about 20 years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Midland Water Color Society and was also a member of the Midland Artist Guild for 34 years.  She had won 15 awards for her artwork over the years.

 

Phyllis married Edward M. Schneider Jr. in August 1955 and they enjoyed 10 winters traveling out west and 40 years camping with their trailer club and family. They both enjoyed fishing on their boat on the Bay. They had three children, Phillip (Jean) Schneider, Trina Manthei, and Mark (Mary Jo) Schneider; four grandchildren: Melissa, Nikita (Jody), Zachary and Hunter; great granddaughter McKenzie and great grandson Robert. They were the love of her life! She also leaves behind her best friend and caregiver of many years, Dee Pelletier. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edward, two brothers, Phillip and Michael.

 

Funeral services will take place at 11 am, Saturday, December 15, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 505 E. Carpenter Street.  Pastor Josh Parsons will officiate with burial in Larkin Township Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler Street, on Friday from 4-7 pm, and at the church on Saturday from 10 am until time of services.  Rather than flowers, memorials can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, or the Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund.
