Survived By: Left to cherish his memories is his wife, Linda Allen; four children, Lynette (Robert) Linton, Kara (John) Kaczmarek, Nathan Allen, and Kathleen (Kevin) Hemberg; nine grandchildren, Micah, Karly, Taylor, Madison, Brady, Kiley, Austin, Lincoln, and Beckett; one great-grandson, Maverick; sister, Jean (David) Moeggenberg; brother, Larry (Marilyn) Allen; four sisters-in-law, Laura, Gail, Janice, and Peg; brother-in-law, Delbert; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Affiliations: On August, 6, 1966 Robert married his loving wife, Linda Pickering, in Bay City, Michigan at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Robert retired from Northwood University after spending 40 years working in the Maintenance Department. He was a very faithful, loyal, and hardworking man; to his wife, family, and his job. He was always a quiet gentleman with few words, but did enjoy telling some good stories. He was a man who his children and neighborhood kids always looked up to and appreciated being around. As a young man, Robert enjoyed spending time in the outdoors hunting small game, fishing, and trapping. He had a deep love for his one acre farm where he raised numerous different animals that he enjoyed with his children.

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away at the Medilodge of Midland on Friday, December 14, 2018, at the age of 78 years. Robert was born in Mount Pleasant, Michigan to the late Harold J. Allen and Anna (Botek) Cockrell on October 21, 1940. On August, 6, 1966 Robert married his loving wife, Linda Pickering, in Bay City, Michigan at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Robert retired from Northwood University after spending 40 years working in the Maintenance Department. He was a very faithful, loyal, and hardworking man; to his wife, family, and his job. He was always a quiet gentleman with few words, but did enjoy telling some good stories. He was a man who his children and neighborhood kids always looked up to and appreciated being around. Robert is welcomed into Heaven’s Gate’s by his parents, Harold J. Allen and Anna (Botek) Cockrell; sister, Patricia (Phillip) Harris; and three brothers-in-law, Warren Burke, Harvey Kipfmiller, and Richard Hales.

 

Robert’s family would like to thank the staff at the Medilodge of Midland for their care and compassion given to their father and family.

 

At the request of Robert, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at the Squires Funeral Home in Bay City, Michigan on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Joe Atchinson. Friends may call the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
