GONZALES, Genaro “Jerry” – of Birch Run, age 82, died Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Ascension St. Mary’s of Saginaw. Due to his love for MSU, Jerry willed his body to science. A memorial service will be held at 1PM Monday, December 31, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church of Taymouth – 12517 Morseville Rd., in Birch Run. Rev. Scott Kroener officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church on Monday from 11AM until the time of service at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Taymouth – Building and Grounds. 

Jerry was born December 3, 1936 in Dallas, Texas to the late Felix and Apolinar (Sanchez) Gonzales. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1955. Jerry married Janette Bowser on August 25, 1969 in Bridgeport. Mr. Gonzales is a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was employed with Tooling Systems Division for many years and retired from Spicer Group after 10 years. Jerry later worked for First Presbyterian Church of Saginaw for 9 years before retiring. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Taymouth, Birch Run Moose Lodge #2426, American Legion Post #125 of Birch Run, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Birch Run Masonic Lodge #514. Jerry was an avid golfer and had the same golf partner for over 20 years. He enjoyed hunting, cooking, and in his younger years, running marathons. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. 

Surviving are: Wife, Janette Gonzales; Daughters: Micaela (Ben) Grant, Melissa (Wade) Stanley, Kathy (Ken) Maurer; Son, Dan (Gail) Kriseler; Grandchildren: Katie Cassiday, Kristopher Maurer, Kimberly Maurer, Waylon Stanley, Izabella Stanley, and Grace Grant; Step grandchildren: Dan McKenzie, and Anderson McKenzie; Great grandson, J.J. Cassiday; Step great grandchildren: Jonathon McKenzie, and Lilly McKenzie; Siblings: Felix (Minnie) Gonzales, Marcelino Gonzales, Connie Oswaldt, Mary (Mike) Toler, Richard (Cecilia) Gonzales, and Raymond (Kathleen) Gonzales; Sister in law, Carmen Gonzales; Special friends: Don Compton, Dave Vallier, Jim and Patty Embrey; Many nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends.
