Survived By: his cat 'Baby Girl', wife Phylis of Sanford, his children: Collette Swanson of Standish, Christina (Rick) Dubay of Grayling and Misty Bare of Sanford and her mother Joanne Root; grandchild Elijah Bare of Sanford; a brother Jack (Sue) Bare of St. Charles; nephew: Jason (Camille) Bare and niece Sandy (Jason) Kipfmiller. Jerry is also survived by Phylis' children: Patty (Jeff) Lobodzinski, Jim (Jenny) Benford and Scott (Angie) Benford, and her grandchildren: Kara, Anthony, Scotty, Carly and Curtis, great grandchild Dylan; Dorothy Bare's children: Scott, Jeff, Melissa, Troy and Phillip, and numerous special friends at the Arnold Center and ARC.

Jerry A. Bare 72, of Sanford, died Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the MidMichigan Medical Center.  He was born June 26, 1946 in Ithaca, son of the late Willis and Betty (Bogart) Bare.  On March 12, 2007 he married the former Phylis (Sayer) Benford in Beaufort, North Carolina.  Jerry was employed at Dow Chemical as a head operator in the aspirin plant for 32 years.  Upon his retirement Jerry worked at the Rose Lake County Campground in Tustin, in Midland at Elder-Beerman, the Arnold Center and the ARC.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, deer hunting and the outdoors.  Later in life, it was playing poker with the guys in Tustin and going to the casino.

 

He is survived by his cat ‘Baby Girl’, wife Phylis of Sanford, his children: Collette Swanson of Standish, Christina (Rick) Dubay of Grayling and Misty Bare of Sanford and her mother Joanne Root; grandchild Elijah Bare of Sanford; a brother Jack (Sue) Bare of St. Charles; nephew: Jason (Camille) Bare and niece Sandy (Jason) Kipfmiller.  Jerry is also survived by Phylis’ children: Patty (Jeff) Lobodzinski, Jim (Jenny) Benford and Scott (Angie) Benford, and her grandchildren: Kara, Anthony, Scotty, Carly and Curtis, great grandchild Dylan; Dorothy Bare’s children: Scott, Jeff, Melissa, Troy and Phillip, and numerous special friends at the Arnold Center and ARC.  In addition to his parents Jerry was preceded in death by his wives: Jane Bare and Dorothy Bare. 

 

A Memorial services will take place 1 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019 in the Friendship Hall at Old Oak Trails Estates, 1661 N. Old Oak Trail, Sanford, MI 48657.
