Juanita Oleta Dubenion, 91, passed away at her home on Thursday, February 21, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Juanita was born in Booneville, Tennessee on April 1, 1927 and moved to Flint, Michigan when she was 2 months old. She graduated from Utley High School and attended Flint Community College, with a major in geology and climate. She worked almost 20 years for the Flint Board of Education, retiring in 1987. Juanita married the love of her life, George Safron Dubenion, on July 29, 1949, six weeks after meeting him at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio.  Juanita was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a wonderful friend to many. She had a deep faith. She was an accomplished artist and highly skilled at sewing and needlework. She loved to read and kept herself up to date with her smart phone and pad. Until her recent and brief illness, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family. She is survived by daughters Shela Dubenion-Smith, Sherry Edwards, and Kimberly Tullock (husband Clarence), grandchildren Shannon Dubenion- Smith (Kay Zavislak), Kristen Dubenion-Smith (Anthony Thompson), Ian Tullock, Caleb Tullock, Seth Tullock and Peter Tullock; great grandchildren Noah Dubenion, Evan Thompson and Lennon Thompson, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by husband George, father Willie Brown, mother Hattie Brown, sisters Emma Wiley, Edith Troyer and Delores Morgan, and son-in-law Frank Edwards. Visitation will be Saturday, February 23 from 4 pm to 8 pm and Sunday, February 24 from 1 pm to 6 pm at Rossell Funeral Home. Services will be at First Baptist Church of Flushing on Monday, February 25 at 11:00 am followed by burial at Sunset Cemetery. Donations in Juanita’s memory may be made to First Baptist Church, 5105 N. McKinley Rd. Flushing, MI 48433.
