Mr. LaPan 86 passed away Friday October 16, 2009 at Brians House following a brief illness. He was born in Bay County on August 28, 1923 to the late Alfred & Florence (Manor) LaPan. He married the former Albertha (Birdie) Shorkey on April 28, 1945 at Our Lady of Visitation Church, she survives him. Harold was retired from Serenus Johnson & Son Construction Co. & Local 1098 and  a member of Sacred Heart Church. Harold enjoy deer hunting, fishing and traveling the north country enjoying the out of doors.

Surviving be sides his wife of 64 years is a grand daughter Stephanie & Frank Jr. Bontumasi; great grandsons Alexander & Chaz Bontumasi; 2 sisters Irene & Fred Gauthier and Norma Kosmick; a brother Leonard & Denalda LaPan; several Nieces & nephews and a special nephew Alfred LaPan. He was predeceased by 2 sons Larry Lapan, Randy LaPan, a grand daughter Jenelle LaPan, 4 brothers and 5 sisters.

 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday October 20, 2009 at 10 am from Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Fr. Chester Pilarski presiding with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Rivertown Funeral Chapel on Monday from 2 to 8 pm. A Vigil Service will be held at 7pm Monday evening. On Tuesday Mr. LaPan will lie in state at the church from 9 am until time of services. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Brian House. The family would like to extend a “Thank you” to the staff at Brian’s House for the care given to Harold and the family during his short stay with them.
