Clarence W. Riggie

 

          Age 88, of Alma, formerly of Midland, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011 at his daughters home with his family at his side.

 

          Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 31st at 11am at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Pastor John Eich officiating. Interment will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge. Visitation will be held Monday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

 

          Clarence was born April 19, 1923 in Gordonville the son of Charles and Edith (Fenske) Riggie. He married Myrtle Cochran on September 16, 1944 and shortly after entered the Army in 1945, being honorably discharged in 1946. Clarence worked for Robert Bott and Lee Halstead farms for several years. He then went to work for Bechtel Construction Co. retiring in 1995 after 40 plus years of service. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and the St. Louis VFW. Clarence enjoyed playing cards, hunting and fishing and most importantly loving and playing with his many grand, great and great-great grandchildren.

 

           He is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Stuart) Wright of Breckenridge, Diane (Al) Fuller of Alma and Judy (Robert) Hoover of Mt. Home, Idaho. Seven grandchildren, Stuart (Paula) Wright Jr., Tim (Kelly) Wright, Todd (Heather) Welch, Rodney Welch, Kevin (Angel) Welch, Robert Hoover II, and Raymond Hoover, eleven great grandchidren, Ryan (Hope) Wright, Jared (Jessica) Wright, Josh Wright, Taylor Wright, Cole Welch, Keegen Reeves, Hailey Welch, Holden Welch, Raymond Hoover Jr., Kassidy Hoover and Kasey Hoover and four great great grandchildren, Chloe and Riley Wright and Kaylinn and Wahneeta Hoover. Also his sister, Margaret Watson of St. Louis and his brother, Charles (Donna) Riggie Jr. of Midland.

 

          Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Myrtle in 1993, grandson, Scott Wright, and five siblings, Hazel Gay, Viola Sasse, Ann McNamara, George Riggie and twin brother Clare Riggie.
