Survived By: Left to cherish his memory are 3 children: daughter, Pat Meyer of Frankenmuth, son, Joe Kwaiser of Houghton Lake and his wife, Gail Brown of Mt. Vernon, IA and daughter, Deborah Kwaiser and partner, Nikki Thompson of Flint, 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, sister, Doris Martuch and sister-in-laws, Joey, Marg, Lou and Carmi Kwaiser and dear friend, Dave Yantz of Houghton Lake.
Affiliations: Russ was a former member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Saginaw and a member of St. James Catholic Church at Houghton Lake where he was active in the Mens Club. He also wa a member of the Knights of Columbus at Houghton Lake.

RUSSELL J. KWAISER, age 96, died Wednesday October 12, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. Russ was born March 28, 1915 to the late Peter C. and Matilda (Limmer) Kwaiser in Saginaw.  He met Agnes L. Johnson of Bay City at a dance there and married her June 29, 1940 in Saginaw.  Russ worked at Lufkin Rule for many years and then at Grey Iron Foundry until his retirement in 1981.  Russ and Agnes were active members of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Saginaw until the moved to Houghton Lake in 1974 after purchasing Windemere Lodge Resort.   There they became active members of St. James Catholic Church.  Russ loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren and taught them how to play Euchre, Pinochle and Cribbage.  He had a love for all sports and was an avid fan of the Tigers, Lions, Pistons and Red Wings!  Left to cherish his memory are 3 children, daughter, Pat Meyer of Frankenmuth, son, Joe Kwaiser of Houghton Lake and his wife, Gail Brown of Mt. Vernon, IA, daughter, Deborah Kwaiser and partner, Nikki Thompson of Flint, 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, sister, Doris Martuch and sister-in-laws, Joey, Marg, Lou and Carmi Kwaiser and dear friend, Dave Yantz of Houghton Lake. Russ was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes, son-in-law, Tom Meyer, brothers, Jack, Jerry, Jerome and Jim Kwaiser and grandson, Milyn Brown-Kwaiser.

Visitation will take place at St. James Catholic Church, on the north shore of Houghton Lake on Sunday October 16 from 1-8 PM, K of C Rosary at 6 PM and Scripture Service at 7 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. James Church at 11 AM Monday October 17 with visitation one hour prior to the Mass.  Committal Service will take place at 1 PM on Tuesday October 18 at the chapel of St. Andrew Cemetery, Saginaw, with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. James Catholic Church, Munson Manor Hospitality House in Traverse City or Association to Rescue Kritters (ARK).  Arrangements are by Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon (989-275-3600).
