Liesa Grohs

Age 92, of Alma, formerly of Saginaw and Bay City, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center-Gratiot.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 18th at 11 am at the Alma First Church of God with Pastor Steve Wimmer officiating.  Interment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery, Bay City.  Visitation will be held Monday, October 17th from 7-9 pm at Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma and on Tuesday from 9:30 am until the time of services at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Crippled Children’s Foundation, 2019 4th Ave. North, Suite 101, Birmingham, AL 35203.

Liesa was born November 10, 1918 in Berlin, Germany the daughter of Alfred and Frieda (Jarman) Bringe.  Her family moved to Saginaw in 1928 and on October 31, 1942 she married Albert Grohs in Saginaw.  She worked as a Physical Therapy Assistant for the Bay City Public Schools for many years.  She was a member of the Bay City Lutheran Church in Bay City, before moving to Alma, where she was a member of the Alma First Church of God.  Liesa volunteered with the Gratiot Medical Center Women’s Auxiliary and the Easter Seals.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed her dark chocolate.  Liesa especially loved throwing pool parties for her grandchildren.

Liesa is survived by her children, Trude (Gary) Tewksbury of Bay City and William "Bill" (Carolyn) Grohs of Alma, four grandchildren, Heidi Neview of Bay City, Elijah (Autumn) Neview of Bay City, Elizabeth (Joel) "Grohs" Harper of Ft. Defiance, AZ and Benjamin (Jessica) Grohs of Flagstaff, AZ, five great grandchildren, Alexandria, Morgan, Tianna, Seth and Isaac.  Also a sister, Elsa (Lyle) Massman of Saginaw.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Albert in 1996 and an infant brother.
